Both
knowledge and wisdom are traits that you gain over time. The difference between
wisdom and knowledge is when your are able to learn different things such as
facts that you learn in school while wisdom comes from the experiences that you
have in life while at the same time it tells you how t use the knowledge you
learn. In college I believe we are learning both knowledge and wisdom, but I
believe that it is teaching more knowledge in classrooms, but outside of the
classroom I am learning more wisdom. In the classroom I learn all about facts
and equations, but it doesn’t really inform me on how to use those facts of
knowledge to get me further in life. I feel like I gain my wisdom when I learn
from my failures in class and do something to change my study habits. I have
learned more wisdom from the fraternity I have pledged because it taught me how
to communicate effectively with other people and people have told me what the
right path is for me to take. I think the information age has made us more
knowledgeable because all this technology makes us learn facts easier, but we
don’t really learn enough to communicate socially.
You gave good distinctive examples to differentiate knowledge and wisdom. I like how you stressed that the things we learn in college are purely knowledge, but we will never truly benefit from it until we use our wisdom to execute and use this knowledge. Also, you made a good point when you said that failures make you wiser. As human beings, we are afraid to make mistakes. However, we should change our point of view about this because it is these failures that truly make us wise. The more failures we go through and for as long as we learn from it, the wiser we become. Both knowledge and wisdom work hand in hand in becoming the best version of ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI would agree with you. I feel that I am learning knowledge in the classroom to and gaining wisdom outside of class but getting wisdom from the things I experience throughout my college life. I also feel the same about how we are learning things in class but we are not taught how to use them in life. With the things we are taught in school we have to find our own ways to use them in life that, helps us gain our wisdom through our mistakes. Wisdom is gained through life lessons, as they say “you live and you learn.” I believe the older we get the wiser we become.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on what you have said. Knowledge and wisdom are somewhat similar, but are gained and learned differently. Wisdom is based on life experiences and knowledge is what we are taught through lectures from teachers and books. Being in college has helped us all in one-way or another. College is a time for all of us to experience life and to discover who we are. We make mistakes and move forward, while learning from them. Wisdom and knowledge are valuable attributes to our lives. It helps us through life, self-discovery, and stories to be told in the future.
